Five tips for writing a news release headline

Your goal is to have information from your news release published in a reputable publication or aired on a television or radio station so that others may know what you are doing in your nonprofit. First, it must get past the editors, making them want to use your news release to develop a story. The truth is many editors will not read the body of your release if the headline is weak, too general, too cute or confusing. Editors read dozens, if not hundreds of headlines, a day when deciding what news to use for their next deadline. They don’t have time to “not get it.”
